Silvana Roth is a German animation director and illustrator based in Edinburgh. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a bachelor(hons) in animation in 2023.

Her graduation film ‘Waldeinsamkeit’ premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2023 and went on to play at many festivals worldwide.

She is currently directing and animating her second short film ‘Downstream’ for Gmac Film’s Little Pictures scheme with support from Screen Scotland. 

Her passion lies in frame-by-frame animation and her painterly animation style blurs the line between traditional and digital aesthetic. In her personal work she explores themes of environmentalism, spirituality, mental health and human connection, telling personal but universal stories.
